The opening ceremony of the Tokyo Summer Olympics will be held on July 23, 2021, and the Paralympic Games will be held on August 24. This was announced at a press conference in Tokyo by the head of the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee Yoshiro Mori.

The Tokyo Summer Olympics will end on August 8 and the Paralympic Games on September 5. According to Yoshiro Mori, the agreement was reached after a telephone conversation with the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach. “When setting new dates, we have taken into account a number of issues related to the training of athletes, the comfort of volunteers and spectators,” – said Yoshiro Mori.
