History of the first International Solidarity Tennis Championship

History of 1st Islamic Solidarity Tennis Championship started with the signing of Memorandum of understanding between Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF), National Olympic Committee of Indonesia and the Government of South Sumatra I 2015. Parties agreed to organize this event during the period of 10–18 May 2015, in the city of Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia as a legacy of the 3rdIslamic Solidarity Games.
The coordination meeting between the ISSF Secretariat General and the ISSF International Tennis Championship Organizing Committee was held on 15 and 16 April 2015 at the headquarter of the National Olympic Committee in Palembang which is scheduled to be held from 10 to 18 May 2015, in the city of Palembang, Indonesia. The meeting was attended by Mr. Ashraf Seyed, the ISSF Technical Affairs Officer; Mr. Ade Karyana, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of South Sumatra; and Mr. Goenawan Tedjo Sutikno, Assistant Secretary-General of the National Tennis Federation, with the presence of the heads of the Championship committees.
All participating National Olympic Committee countries Malasia, Uganda, Oman, Tajikistan, Syria, Tunisia, Maldives, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Lebanon, Indonesia were in Palembang to attend the championship.
The Opening Ceremony of ISSF International Tennis Championship was started with the presence of Mr. Mukti Sulaiman, representative of the Governor of South Sumatra; Mr. Ahmed Najib, the Deputy Governor of South Sumatra; the representative of the International Tennis Federation; and the representative of the Indonesian Tennis Federation, Ms. Susan Soabakti.
The opening ceremony, which is held in Bukit Asam tennis stadiums, is started with playing the national anthem of Indonesia and entering the holders of flags of the participating states which are (12) states. Athletes competed in the following order: women team, men team, single player men, single player women, double players men, double players women.
The closing ceremony of the Championship took place with the presence of HE Mr. Alex Nur Eldin, the Governor of South Sumatra, Mr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al-Nassar, ISSF Secretary General; Mr. Saeed Abdulghaffar Hussain, Assistant Secretary-General; officials of South Sumatra and the National Olympic Committee; and delegations participating in the Championship. Mr. Faisal Abdulaziz Al-Nassar has delivered the ISSF speech, extending the greetings of HRH Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz and expressing his gratitude to the Governor of South Sumatra and officials of the National Olympic Committee for the successful organization of the Championship and their interest to cooperate with the ISSF to achieve Islamic solidarity and fraternity among youth in the Islamic states.
