OCEP members arranged a great concert on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan. The concert took place in the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev.

Prior to the concert NOC Secretary General Azer Aliyev, President of the European Olympic Committee Spyros Capralos and presidents of 6 Olympic Committees, officials got acquainted with OCEP’s pavilions installed at the philharmonic. The 8 schools, which are the members of the OCEP program, presented informative pavilions on countries they represent – Poland, Greece, Georgia, Slovakia, Italy, Turkey, Japan and Slovenia.

The schoolchildren presented information about the Olympic champions, traditions, culture and cuisine of the countries they represented to the guests. After familiarization with the pavilions, a concert of the schoolchildren of the secondary music school named after Bulbul, one of the OCEP members representing Spain, took place. Composition of Azerbaijani and European composers were performed at the concert.

At the end of the concert, NOC’s ambassador, national artist Tunzala Aghayeva performed the song “Our time” with the participation of the members of the “Banovsha” children’s choir named after Afsar Javanshirov of the Azerbaijan Television and Radio. The schoolchildren of 54 included in the OCEP’s program joined this performance with flags of the countries they represent. The guests, participants of the concert gave a standing ovation the end of the concert program, which promoted the idea of friendship and peace of the OCEP. 

It should be noted that Olympic Culture and Education Program (OCEP) has been launched since Baku 2019 European Youth Olympic Festival with support of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee, International Olympic Committee, IOC’s Olympic Solidarity Department, European Olympic Committee, Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan and Organizing Committee of the festival. Realization of OCEP program is possible in the framework of summer and winter editions of the European Youth Festivals, Olympic Games and even within any major sports events.
