“Olympic Agenda 2020” Commission established within NOC Azerbaijan in early 2017 hold another event memorable today that perfectly fits to 20+20 Recommendations on Olympic education. The event was to thank all 22 practitioners who spent more than 2 months in NOC Azerbaijan by delivering various services including, but not limited to translation, typing, editing, administrative and social media support on voluntary basis. But the most remarkable was to engage these last year university students in the presentation contest devoted to the Olympic themes along with their internship works at the NOC Azerbaijan. Different from previous years, students were asked to choose any Olympic theme by making presentation for the panel of “Olympic Agenda 2020” Commission members. By this initiative The Commission aimed to motivate students towards Olympic education and make their internship at the NOC Azerbaijan more interesting and useful. It did work out and students got seriously in competitive rally.

After all presentations delivered, the Commission members assessed and identified the best 3 presentations along with some other nominations such as “the best IT based presentation” or “the best presentation in English” to award them with special prize of NOC Azerbaijan. So, today’s commemoration and awarding was memorable not only for the students, but also NOC Azerbaijan, especially “Olympic Agenda 2020” Commission. A small spark initiated by the Commission members turned into Olympic flame to carry out throughout the coming years internship services for the young students.

Given above, Commission decided to design a proper project for the coming year not only improving the intern students’ awareness about Olympic education, but also using them as Olympic messengers. All stages of the “Young Olympic Messengers” project delivery, especially presentations on Olympic themes will be shared via active social media accounts of NOCAzerbaijan. This will be in addition to the best presentations to be publicly introduced at the respective universities. The Commission also hopes that other NOCs can run similar Olympic education projects in their countries.

The event came to end by demonstration of special edition of “No Doping in Sport” film produced within the framework of “Sport For All” TV program. It should be noted that this is first project of the “Olympic Agenda 2020” Commission since it is inception.
